Hebrew Free Loan Association P.O. Box 18862Seattle, WA 98118-0862 (206) 722-1936 Contact: Judie Sherr The Hebrew
Free Loan Association was founded and incorporated in Seattle in 1914
under the name Hebrew Education and Free Loan Association. The name was
changed on January 27, 1979, to Hebrew Free Loan Association (Hebrew
Gimilut Chasadim Association). The
purpose of the corporation is to fulfill the Biblical precept found in
Exodus 22: "If thou lend money to my people, thou shall not lay upon
him interest." Loans are
available for personal short-term special or emergency needs and can
also be requested by local Jewish students attending any accredited
college. Funding
for loans is provided by annual membership dues, donations and
bequests. Loan requests are handled with discretion, and repayment
terms are set on an individual basis. Because of
a recent steady increase in the number of loan applicants, the
association is seeking new members and donors. Community support will
help HFLA continue to fulfill its goals. Please call Judie Sherr at (206) 722-1936 for more information about interest free loans or about memberships and donations. |
